Why we built these tools

Most problems people bring to phone-number support are not about the number itself. They are about the details around it: a sign-up form that rejects a number because the country code is typed twice, a code that never arrives because the app only accepts certain countries, or a number that looks fine but is classified as VoIP by the lookup service the app uses. These tools answer those questions directly, with the same data we use on our own country and pricing pages.

Getting the format right

Phone numbers are written differently in every country. A UK mobile is dialled as 07… at home but +44 7… from abroad; a German one drops its leading 0 after +49; in some countries the trunk prefix is kept inside the international number. The country calling codes table lists all 200 countries we cover with their dial code and the usual layout of a local mobile number, and the phone number formatter converts whatever you paste into the international standard, E.164, which is what most apps and APIs expect.

Choosing a country for an app

Not every app works with numbers from every country, and prices for one-time codes vary a lot between countries. Understanding VoIP and mobile numbers

Many sign-up flows check a number's line type before they send a code and quietly refuse VoIP numbers. Privacy

The formatter and the self-check run entirely on your device. There is no request to our servers when you type a number, and the tools themselves log and store nothing. The calling-code table and the app pages are ordinary web pages you can bookmark, share or cite.
