Editorial policy

This policy applies to the explanatory content on phoneborn.com: the blog, the glossary, alternatives and comparison pages, service guides such as WhatsApp verification, and country pages. Legal documents — the Terms, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy — are binding texts and take precedence over any guide that summarises them.

Content is published under the byline PhoneBorn Team. We do not attribute articles to named experts we cannot introduce to you, and we do not invent author personas.

We prefer primary sources and go to secondary ones only when no primary source exists.

• Platform documentation. How WhatsApp, Google, Telegram, Instagram, OpenAI and others handle phone verification is described from their official help centres and developer documentation. Platforms change these rules, so we describe them in general terms and avoid claiming to know internal risk systems.
• Telecom standards. Numbering and messaging concepts are explained with reference to standards bodies — for example ITU-T Recommendation E.164 for the international numbering plan (see E.164) and 3GPP specifications for mobile networks and SMS.
• Regulators. Where law or regulation matters — such as consent rules for marketing messages or the legality of second numbers — we point to national regulators and official government sources, and we note that the answer depends on jurisdiction. Nothing we publish is legal advice.
• Our own product. Statements about PhoneBorn come from the product itself, not from marketing wishes (see below).

When a source is uncertain or disputed, we say so instead of picking the most convenient answer.

Every claim about PhoneBorn — plan terms, allowances, the money-back guarantee, OTP order windows, supported payment methods, what data we keep — is maintained in a single internal source of truth that mirrors the product's actual settings. Pages read from it rather than restating numbers by hand, so the same promise is worded the same way everywhere.

That rule also limits what we say. We never promise that a particular app will accept a number, because each platform decides that for itself. We describe our numbers as real mobile numbers because that is what they are, and we avoid absolute promises about acceptance, delivery or detection. If a guide and the product ever disagree, the product and the legal pages win, and the guide gets fixed.

We sell phone numbers, and we also publish pages comparing PhoneBorn with other providers and with free options. That is a conflict of interest, and we handle it with a few fixed rules:

• Public information only. Comparisons use what a provider publishes on its own website or documentation, or facts that are widely known and stable. We do not use leaked data, rumours or anonymous claims.
• Dated statements. Competitor facts are written with "as of" dates and cautious wording, because providers change products and prices. We do not quote competitor prices; we tell you to check their site.
• Fair verdicts. Every comparison includes the situations where the other option is the better choice. Some people need a free service, a traditional carrier or a different product entirely, and we say so.
• No disparagement. We describe models and trade-offs, not people or companies' motives. Trademarks belong to their owners and PhoneBorn is not affiliated with the companies we mention.
• Corrections welcome. If you represent a provider we cover and something is inaccurate or out of date, email us and we will review it promptly.

• Paid placements, sponsored rankings or affiliate-driven "best of" lists. No company pays to appear, or to rank higher, on our pages.
• Fake reviews, ratings, testimonials or case studies. When we use an example, it is clearly hypothetical — "for example, a freelancer who…" — not a made-up customer story.
• Invented statistics or customer counts. If we cannot source a number, we leave it out.
• Instructions for evading platform rules, bans, geo-restrictions, rate limits or fraud checks. We explain why verification fails and what legitimate fixes exist; we do not publish workarounds. See our acceptable use page.

Content may be drafted with software tools and is reviewed against our product facts and cited sources before publishing. Review checks that product claims match the source of truth, that links point to live pages, that competitor statements are dated and fairly worded, and that legal or regulatory topics are framed as general information.

Pages that describe fast-moving topics — platform verification rules, provider comparisons, "best countries" guides — are revisited periodically and when we learn that something has changed.

If you find an error, an outdated statement or a broken link, email [email protected] with the page address and what should change, ideally with a source. A person reads every message and replies within 24 hours, 7 days a week. You can also use the contact form.

When a correction changes the meaning of a page, we update the content and its revision date. Minor fixes such as typos or broken links are made without a note. We do not quietly remove criticism of our own product that is accurate.
