About PhoneBorn

PhoneBorn exists for one job: giving people a phone number they can use without handing over their personal one. We offer two products that solve two different problems.

Phone-number plans. A real mobile number from a mobile number range, assigned to your account alone for a term of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 outgoing calling minutes per month, and unlimited incoming calls. You keep the same number on every renewal, which is what makes it suitable for accounts you need to re-verify months later. See phone numbers.

Single-use OTP numbers. A number reserved for one service and one verification code. If no code arrives within the order window, the order is refunded to your wallet automatically. OTP numbers cannot send SMS or make calls, and they are released after use. See OTP numbers.

A few rules shape almost every product decision we make. They are also the things you can hold us to.

Collect as little as possible

An account needs an email address and a password. We do not ask for your name, date of birth, home address, identity documents or an existing phone number. We keep what is needed to run the service — your SMS and call history so you can see it in your dashboard, payment records and short-lived security logs — and the Privacy Policy lists every category and how long it is kept. We do not sell data and we do not use advertising trackers.

Zero KYC, by design

Because there is no identity check, the email on your account is the only proof of ownership. That is a deliberate trade-off: less data about you exists, so less can leak. It also means you should protect that inbox well — our security page explains why.

Crypto-only payments

We accept cryptocurrency and nothing else. No card statement, billing name or bank account ends up linked to your number, and we never hold card or bank details. Crypto is simply how you pay us; nothing on this site is investment advice. The reasoning is explained in why PhoneBorn is crypto-only.

Lawful use only

Your number can send messages and make calls, so it comes with responsibilities. Spam, bulk or marketing messaging, robocalls, harassment, fraud, phishing, impersonation and caller-ID spoofing are prohibited, and accounts that do these things are suspended. The plain-language rules are on our acceptable use page; the binding text is in the Terms.

The phone-number market is full of promises nobody can keep. We try not to add to them.

• No app can be guaranteed. PhoneBorn numbers work with WhatsApp, Instagram, Google, Telegram, Facebook, TikTok, Discord, ChatGPT and 110+ apps, but each platform decides which numbers and countries it accepts, and those decisions can change. We say so plainly, and the 7-day money-back guarantee exists partly for that reason.
• Real mobile, not "virtual". Our numbers come from mobile number ranges. Unlike VoIP or virtual numbers, they are not shared inboxes and they are assigned to one customer at a time. We explain the difference, and its limits, on real mobile vs VoIP numbers.
• You don't own the number. Numbers are provided through telecom partners. Yours stays assigned to you as long as you renew, but it never becomes your property — the Terms say so explicitly.
• Free alternatives have real costs. Public receive-SMS sites show codes to anyone. We say that even though it is also a sales argument, and we explain it with sources in receive SMS online safely.

Phone-number plans cost the same in all 200 countries: From $1.80/month on the 12-month plan. 1-, 3- and 6-month terms are also available — see all term prices at checkout. There are no setup fees and no per-message charges on incoming SMS.

OTP numbers are priced per code by service and country, and live prices are listed on the OTP numbers page. If a code never arrives, you are not charged.

If your number has not sent or received a single SMS or call, you can get a full refund within 7 days of purchase — no questions asked. The automatic welcome SMS PhoneBorn sends on activation does not count as use. Refunds go to your PhoneBorn wallet, and the full rules are on the refund policy.

Our guides, glossary and comparison pages follow a published editorial policy: product facts come from one internal source of truth, competitor information is limited to public facts with dates, and we do not publish invented reviews, ratings or statistics. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

You will not find customer counts, testimonials, awards or press logos on this site. What we can show you is how the product behaves: you can browse countries, services and live OTP prices without an account, and read the exact rules for refunds, renewals and acceptable use before you pay anything.
